What to Expect in Worship

All are welcome. Come as you are comfortable. We gather in worship to find meaning and live more deeply. Worship creates connections within, among, and beyond us, calling us to our better selves, calling us to live with wisdom and compassion.

Elements of a typical Unitarian Universalist Sunday morning worship service at GMUUC include:

  • Lighting a flaming chalice, the symbol of our faith

  • Welcoming of guests, friends, and members

  • Music, both instrumental and vocal and in a variety of styles

  • Candles of Community: A Time for Sharing Joys & Concerns

  • Mediation and/or Prayer

  • Readings

  • A sermon given by a professional Minister, guest speaker, or lay leader

  • A multi-generational segment such as “a story for all ages”

  • Receiving financial gifts for Share the Plate donations

  • Fellowship, cookies, and coffee
