Georgia State Legislative Advocacy: Get Involved
Stay Informed About Georgia State Legislative Issues
The Unitarian Universalist Georgia Legislative Action Network (UU GA LAN) is dedicated to educating and mobilizing Georgia Unitarian Universalists in the state legislative process. Our mission is to amplify the needs and voices of Georgia residents who are the least represented in state government.
Who We Advocate For
Guided by Unitarian Universalist values, the GA UU Legislative Action Network advocates for all Georgia residents, particularly those who have historically faced barriers to representation. This includes renters, the medically uninsured, people of color, individuals who identify outside of binary gender roles, victims of gun violence, immigrants, people whose reproductive healthcare rights are at-risk, public-school students, and citizens seeking to vote without obstruction.
Get Connected and Take Action
Mary Lasris and Wynne Ewing currently represent GMUUC within the UU GA LAN. We invite you to join us by registering through EveryAction to receive action alerts. These alerts, curated by the UU GA LAN Steering Committee, provide opportunities for direct action such as submitting public comments in person, emailing legislators, and commenting on legislation.

Volunteering with Rainbow House Children

These pictures are of Christmas ornaments made by the residents of Rainbow Children’s Home at a craft party held here at GMUUC by members of your Faith In Action team, Jill Gray, Lynda Doll, Judy Dowdy, and Joel Kottman. We had a wonderful afternoon on November 29, crafting Crystal Dotz ornaments for the Rainbow House tree.
Rainbow House has long been a favorite of ours. We at GMUUC give each resident a $50.00 gift certificate for clothing and school supplies both in August and March, encouraging them to stay in school. Nancy Duggan sponsored pottery-making workshops for several years. We’ve also painted butterfly houses and other crafts with the residents.
Your participation is welcome and donations specifically for RH would be greatly appreciated.

Side With Love: Honoring Courageous Love
Each year GMUUC honors an individual or organization in our community who has exhibited
courageous love and touched hearts. Our annual presentation of the Courageous Love Award is an opportunity to reach beyond our core social justice folks, and to engage our whole congregation or community in social justice work. It is also a chance to uplift others; strengthen and support partnerships we are already developing; and to join together with joy and with purpose those who have shared values.
Do you know an individual or organization that has earned recognition? Please submit your application not later than December 31, 2025. Our Faith in Action Team will select one or more recipients, and the Courageous Love Award will be presented at the Sunday worship on February 15, 2026.
More information and application for Courageous Love Award HERE or contact Wynne Ewing.

Join Side With Love January 19-February 16
for 30 Days of Love 2026!
This year's theme is Love At The Center:
Reimagining the World As It Could Be.
At a time when fear, violence, and extraction dominate our politics and our planet, we practice another way. We believe love is not fragile; it is fierce. It grounds our organizing, fuels our imagination, and sustains our communities. Over five weeks, we will move through a journey from imagination to action, rooting our freedom dreams in faith and bringing them to life in our world.
Each week there will be a written reflection from Side With Love staff, a conversation with a UU theologian, a multigenerational family activity, reflection questions for journaling, a meditative body practice, and a coloring sheet connected to the weekly theme.
Visit Side With Love to learn more and sign up to receive an email and/or text when each week's resources are AVAILABLE HERE.
Community Helping Place

Dear friends,
Dear friends, There are no requests this week only gratitude for your donations to the food pantry and Spirit of Christmas. You embody that spirit all year. Wishing you love and blessings of the season.
In Faith,
Melanie
